WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY’VE CANCELED THE ASTRONOMERS-ONLY DANCE-OFF AND EMCEE BATTLE?

I’VE BEEN PRACTICING FOR MONTHS. MY MOVES ARE TIGHT. MY BODY LOOSE AS A COMET’S ION TAIL. I INTENDED TO STEP OUT OF THE BOOTH SMELLING LIKE BURBERRY COLOGNE, THEN GRIP THE MIC AND SERVE THOSE BASTARDS FROM OBSERVATIONAL COSMOLOGY.

Neil Gaiman sings “Psycho”, Amanda Palmer on ukulele
Nov 9th, 2011 at the Moore in Seattle, WA

This show was so amazing - this was definitely one of my favourite performances. I love it when Neil sings (and when Amanda talks about his previous stage fright about it). It’s nice to think that someone of enormous fame can still develop new skills and self-confidence about them later in their career.

Also everything he does is predictably creepy and uncomfortable. Also the accent.

This is my favourite poem at the moment…

whisperedstarlight:

“Bright star, would I were stedfast as thou art— Not in lone splendour hung aloft the night And watching, with eternal lids apart, Like nature’s patient, sleepless Eremite, The moving waters at their priestlike task Of pure ablution round earth’s human shores, Or gazing on the new soft-fallen mask Of snow upon the mountains and the moors— No - yet still stedfast, still unchangeable, Pillow’d upon my fair love’s ripening breast, To feel for ever its soft fall and swell, Awake for ever in a sweet unrest, Still, still to hear her tender-taken breath, And so live ever - or else swoon to death.”

Bright Star, John Keats
